He uses the newest technologies and techniques available to make educated surgical plans and execute those plans in the operating room with maximum precision, using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.

As a result of his training, interest, and expertise, patients with chronic pain, infections, fractures around implants, or previous failed surgery are sent to Dr. Patel by surgeons from all over the city and region. He is one of the few fellowship trained shoulder and elbow surgeons in town specializing in revision surgery due to failed implants, infection, or fractures, as well as complex cases in patients with chronic deformities or significant bone loss.
His experience with complex and chronic problems has helped Dr. Patel develop a unique skill set with a strong focus on optimizing surgical outcomes and getting it right the first time.
Research and Education
With over 50 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, Dr. Patel has a strong interest in working towards the advancement of shoulder surgery through research and education. He is actively involved in over 20 research projects at any given time, while presenting research and giving lectures and local and national orthopedic meetings.
Dr. Patel serves as core faculty for the CORE Institute Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program, and adjunct faculty for the University of Arizona College of medicine Phoenix Sports Medicine and Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship programs.
